"Aiming to wealthy daily life in harmony with nature", Kao corporation develops a wide variety of businesses including commercial and home-use detergents, toiletry products, cosmetics and beverages, with having many factories and distribution points in Japan and abroad. In this issue, we visited Tochigi plant in Ichikai Town, and interviewed with a tour guide in the Regional Service Center.
Tochigi plant is accompanied with their research center, and they are pursuing "Superior Monozukuri" to realize customer satisfactions through a joint-work of product development and fundamental research.
As for products, water absorbing polymer adopted products such as sanitary napkin "Laurier", diaper "Meries",and "Releaf", and further toiletry cleaning sheet "Toilet Quickle" are manufactured in this plant.
This plant was the 6th plant in Kao Corporation established in 1975, surrounded by greenery.
A trigger of the plant development in Tochigi was our research project of an urethane material at that time. We thought the material could be used for an automotive parts and feasible as a business. However, by the economic crisis, the purpose of this plant was changed and developed as a multi-purpose factory.
Since then, up to now, this plant is a Kao's main plant for paper products.
Also Tochigi provides many hardworking and talented human resources as our employees. They are actively working at not only in Japan but also in abroad. Further, abundant natural resources is also attracting us.
Based on the belief of "Superior products are developed with the backbone of various sciences and technologies", we always challenge to new sciences and technologies, and would like to provide highly valued products generated by the combined outcomes of those activities.
In addition to "Made in Tochigi products", there are many Kao's products "Born in Tochigi" or "Researched in Tochigi", they are contributing to realize a quality of living culture with enjoyments and wholehearted satisfactions for the people in the world.
The "Kao family concert " is performed by inviting popular artists in Japan and abroad. All the earnings of the concert has been donated for culture & education projects in the local community.
Also Kao health care seminar "Mental & physical health care for mothers and daughters" are held. This seminar has been organized since 1990, in order to provide an opportunity of getting professional advise for a mother and child who greeting the menarche for better their living.
Further, in addition to donating our products for local community's events, we deliver a diaper "Meries" to all new born babies who wish to receive it in Ichikai and Mashiko towns.
