In this issue, we visited SII Crystal Technology inc. who develops various business globally on the base of watch business, and interviewed with Etsuo Serizawa, General Manager of Business Control Division.

【 Crystal Stone and Oscillator as Products 】

SII Crystal Technology Inc. (here in after SCT) was newly established by separating the development and manufacturing functions of the Seiko Instruments Inc. in April 1, 2013

 

Our operation was started in 1956 as an exclusive factory of manufacturing of semiprecious stone bearing for wristwatches. Nowadays, as an exclusive manufacturing plant of crystal oscillators, we are contributing for the future of customers, by the technics and spirits of "Takumi" (a master of craftsmen), with pursuing the manufacturing of small and high precision, ultra low power-consumption, and environment considered products.

Tochigi Prefecture and its Business Environment

SII group's main operations are located in the cities within Akita, Iwate, Miyagi, Morioka, Tochigi, Chiba prefectures. Among them, SCT is located in Tochigi with providing convenient access to the Tohoku Expressway can be used as a main axis of the products transportation.
Also SCT is located within the Ohira Mountain Prefectural Natural Park where an excellent unobstructed views from the top of the mountain are obtained. Having surrounded with the Uzuma river, which has more than 100,000 of carp fishes, and crystal-clear air and water, we are performing Monozukuri of the products in the precision of submicron.

【 Products Equipped with Crystal Oscillator, MONOZUKURI of Ultra Low Energy Consumption, Environmental Products 】

The crystal oscillator is assembled in an electrical circuit to generate a constant frequency of electrical signals.

In our company, we are pursuing the development of small and high precision, ultra low power-consumption crystal oscillators, by utilizing the technology of the 3-dimentional photolithography. The parts manufactured in this plant are equipped on to the variety of digital products such as smart phones, personal computers, with contributing for the creation of the ecological environment and convenient and comfortable society. Your mobile phone, watch and personal computer may be equipped with the crystal oscillators made by our company.

【 Pursuing the Utmost Saving of the Energy, Aiming for Co-existing with Nature】

Contributing Local Community

Our plant, located within the natural park, is always considering to coexist with a nature.
We are actively working on the earth friendly activity as a member of the local community, for example, highly heat insulation effect materials, and invertor controls for the power system including air conditioning and lightnings, are used in our buildings to minimize the emissions of CO2 in the utmost limit.
Also through the cleaning activities of the Nagano river in the city, and accepting internship students for high schools and universities, we are appreciating for living together with the local community.  

Comments for the People in Tochigi

Tochigi City had been prospered as a post-station town on the road connecting to Edo (Tokyo) and a merchant town of the ship transportation via the Uzuma river during the period of Edo to Meiji. Many local traditional technologies are inherited and still alive in the city.
Within such splendid environments, SCT, as a member of SII group, will continuously develops the next generation by keeping the "Mind of Takumi" which unchanged by the times or the environments, by keeping our pride of the successor of the long-established technology of the micro mechatronics, nanotechnology, and ultra low power consumption cultivated through the production of the semiprecious stone for the watch bearing.
